Since its inception, Hayya Bina's mission statement—first as a citizen-oriented initiative without legal status and later as an NGO—is to serve as and/or provide a platform for critical independent voices. Such voices advocate, by words and actions, the concept and application of diversity in all realms of Lebanese public life. In order to accomplish its mission, Hayya Bina resists the creeping dual-culture of fear and exclusion in its myriad pretexts, as well as the politics that tend to derive from that culture.
